Food to eat with your braces

We know that having braces limits what you can eat…

At Victoria Park Dental Specialists, we have a wide variety of orthodontic treatments to help you achieve the beautiful, straight smile you deserve. However, we completely understand that having braces also limit the food you can eat.

After you have had an adjustment made to your braces, your teeth can feel sore and sensitive. Once your mouth has settled down you still need to eat softer foods as anything hard or crunchy may get stuck to or damage your braces.

Food to eat with your braces

  • Dairy — cheese, yoghurt, custard, pudding, milk drinks
  • Breads — soft tortillas, pancakes, muffins, soft breads and rolls
  • Grains — pasta, rice
  • Meats/poultry — cut meat off bone
  • Seafood — tuna, salmon, crab cakes
  • Vegetables — cut fresh veggies into bite size pieces
  • Fruits — cut into bite size pieces
  • Treats — ice cream, milkshakes and jellies

Soups, mashed potatoes, omelets and pumpkin pie are great, soft foods to eat and are easy to adjust and modify. We understand that it can be hard to have a varied diet which is why we like to post recipes to help you come up with ideas for dinner.
