The orthodontic treatment on everyone’s lips (and in their mouths) is Invisalign, but how does it really work?
The Invisalign treatment is revolutionising the way patients can straighten their teeth, with virtually invisible solutions most people won’t even know you’re straitening your teeth! Here at Victoria Park Dental Care in Adelaide, we often prescribe Invisalign for those patients who want orthodontics but don’t want to wear traditional metal braces.

The benefits of Invisalign
For many their profession, lifestyle or personal preferences appeal to the Invisalign treatment. Once we have assessed your mouth we can determine whether you would be an ideal candidate for Invisalign treatment. The main benefits of clear aligners include:
- Aligners are removable
- Maintain the same dental hygiene routine
- No dietary restrictions or limitations
- Photo friendly
- Custom made to your dental arches
- Comfortable to wear
- Transparent aligners are virtually invisible
Is Invisalign the treatment for me?
During your consultation, we will assess your mouth and determine the best treatment for your orthodontic needs. At Victoria Park Dental Care we offer a range of different orthodontic treatments. Invisalign is often used for those patients who are keen to straighten their teeth but who do not or cannot undergo treatment with traditional metal braces.
What should I expect?
Once we have determined whether you are an ideal candidate for the Invisalign clear aligners (as those with severe malocclusions such as overbites, underbites or crossbites may not benefit from Invisalign) we can begin treatment.
Before prescribing the treatment, Dr McLean will conduct an analysis of your smile to ensure there is no gum disease or decay present. Once your mouth is clean and healthy she will take an impression of your smile and send the impressions off to have your unique treatment plan created. We will then be able to show you your treatment plan to give you an idea of how your smile will look after treatment!
Your clear aligners will then be crafted from your impressions and Dr Helen McLean will place the first set to ensure they fit properly in your mouth. As you progress throughout your treatment you will receive new aligners to help move your teeth little by little into place.
